Mott Street in the 1970s, The Burg
The Roebling Factory on one side of the street.
I love the cars in many of the older pictures:)
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Hi Mack: This is one street scene I'm gonna get right. This is the street I was born on August 30, 1919. That has to be the corner of Clinton and Mott. On the left it looks like the Clint-Mott Cafe. A very large percentage of the men in Chambersburg worked at Roebling's at that time. That's why you don't see any parking lots, no one had cars, they could roll right out of bed and go to work. Regards, Ralph
Hi Ralph:)
Yes indeed this is good ole
Mott Street taken from near
South Clinton. I immediately
noted the alley after 12 Mott
Street in the picture:)
This picture just about brings me to tears. My grandparents lived in #10 - attached to the Clin-Mott and the picture was taken practically from their porch. That chair on the sidewalk, I can barely find the words, this is like a picture out of my own memory. They always had the chairs on the sidewalk and at night everyone would come together to hang out. Neighbors, most of whom were family, would come down the street and we would be out there all night. Anthony Bosso, owner of Clin-Mott would often pull himself away from the kitchen and come chat for a few minutes at a time throughout the night. I can still see him standing there with his apron on, fists on his hips and his warm smile. This scene is one of my fondest memories I have and this picture really captures it!
Thank You April.
