Hudson Street in Late Summer, The Burg

Hudson Street in Late Summer, The Burg
I love these street scene pictures. Click this picture

Old Burg:)

Ralph Lucarella adds:

Hi Mack: This is the part of Hudson St. that I was very
familar with in my early Burg days. Everyone in the
neighborhood knew one another and it was like one big
family. Everyone went to St. Joachims for their communion
and we all looked forward to the feast of lights on Butler
St.This was before the great depression days and everyone
worked at Roeblings or some other big plant in the city.
I could understand the Italian language very well but could
only speak it fairly. We all spoke English at home but my
grandparents. Most people knew our family because of our
store on Mott St. Years later, when I was a letter carrier
and worked the Burg, they remembered me. Chambersburg is a
good example of what true friendship and care for your
neighbors is all about. Best regards.

Thank You for this great comment about the Burgs history
and people Ralph:)
