More Burg Barber Shop Memories

My barber was Tullio's, located on Chambers Street one
door past Morris Avenue. He gave a great hair cut.I
remember as a young boy when my hair cut was just about
done and after shaving my neck and (hot shaving cream)
side burns, he would then ask, Hopalong Cassidy or
Brylcreem as the final touch. Geez, barbers back in
the day wore nice white starched short sleeve shirt/
jackets and cut your hair with just scissors. They
really took pride in their profession.I moved from
the Burg in "62" and unfortunately, Tullio like many
other good Burg barbers shut down during the early
70's when long hair became the fashion and men where
getting fewer hair cuts. Today folks they want to be
called hair stylists and charge big bucks.
Hi Anon:)
Well the long hair craze came and went and while
there may have been less barbers around in my Burg
day (70s/80s/90s), there were still plenty of them.
Thank you for the memories and reflections:)
