Roebling Avenue Street Scene, The Burg
Emory Avenue is the cross street here.
The Old Washington Playground AKA Agabiti Park is
across the street from this:)
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

My eye went to the awnings. Most today are permanent aluminum but I remember the dreaded rite of spring. It went something like bringing the canvas down from the attic. If dried it didn't mildew. If you put it up wet you then had to scrub it.
Then pop would (right around Fathers Day??) .. begin assembling the pipes.
Trying to "color coordinate" with the neighbor to keep the duplex look pretty uniform.
And the best part was learning a few new words. Not falling off the roof or a ladder was always a fun and a true challenge.

Hi Skip.
Another great comment. They always
looked nice to me passing by. I had no idea some required efforts
like this:)
