From Mike Mangine About his Trenton Boxing Hall of Fame Grandfather Larry Mangine

From Mike Mangine About his Trenton Boxing Hall of Fame Grandfather
Larry Mangine.

Larry was born in Trenton in 1916. He had to leave middle school
to work during the Depression. He was from North Trenton and I
know he lived on William Street and Fulton Street and Haslach
Avenue before moving to Hamilton in the 80s. My dad talks about
when he went up against the champ Freddy Red Cochrane in the
30's but lost. His history reminds me of a Trenton Rocky!
Also he fought under an alias Reno Parcucci in 1945. I have
the boxing poster and a picture of him. He was inducted into
the Trenton Boxing Hall of Fame in the 70s. His career spanned
1933 to 1941 with a reprise in 1945. He eventually retired to
raise a family. He worked for the City of Trenton Streets
Department.

What Ralph :Lucarella said about Larry when commenting on a
post on Tom Glovers site:

Well Tom, I got to know Larry Mangine in the late 30s. We worked
along with others at the 112th Field Artillery in Lawrenceville.
It was called the NYA project. We worked 8 days a month for $18
and it was some help in those depression years. A group of guys
from the Burg, including Larry and I, did a lot of physical work
that kept us in good shape. We spoke a lot about fighting and he
mentioned how his mother feared everytime he got into the ring.
I think that was a big factor in his efforts to make prize
fighting a career. I will say you would not want to know a
nicer man than Larry Mangine. Best regards.
