216 South Clinton Avenue, East Trenton.

216 South Clinton Avenue, East Trenton.
Once upon a time this was Trenton Box Lunch &
W.B. Case Box Lunch.
This is a new picture of this taken a few days ago.
There is a slightly different traffic pattern near
here. I remember the Greenwood Circle and the Barlow
Street Circle. Often the way we went to my Aunt's
house in Ewing was taking the Trenton Freeway off
the circle out to North Olden Avenue. I remember
the factories and garbage dumps and big oil tanks
we saw driving down the Trenton Freeway and then
the big thump over those railroad tracks as we
approached the traffic light at the intersection
of North Olden Avenue.

Another great photo, Mack. My sister in law worked their back in the 1940's when it was Trenton Box Lunch. If you look closely at the faded paint, you will see "Neidt-Ertel" barely visible. They were a very prominent Ford auto dealership back in the 20's.

Hi Mack: I'll give you my version of the area back in the 30s. There was a restaurant on Clinton run by Ralph Manze, some say it was a front. There was another great Italian Restaurant next to the railroad station, I think it was called Lorenzo's. Then further down Clinton was the YMCA. Is that stll there?

Hi Mack: I remember this area well. You had the circle, then Clinton Ave. to the railroad station. There was a restaurant there run by Ralph Manze, right before the bridge over the tracks. How about that great Italian restaurant near the station, was it called Lorenzo's. Then straight down Clinton was the YMCA.Is that stll there. And Tom, don"t worry about your grammer. They thought I was very smart while in elementary school. They put me in A27 when I went to Junior 4,that was supposed to be for smart boys. I think the boys were in the even classes and the girls in the odd. Was it that way when you guys went there. I flunked English the first half.

Hi Anon & Ralph:)
Pete Lorenzo's still there at
66 S Clinton near the Train Station. I don't know if the YMCA
is still around there.

OK Ralph you mentioned Junior 4
so that gives me an excuse to post the Junior Four School Song again!

Foward the goal is set for Junior Four,
Always on top in work or play;
Quickly our fame has reached the Jersey Shore,
Best Junior High School of the day.
Loyal, we pledge ourselves to stand by you,
Proudly unfurl our banner o'er us.
Hail to our colors above all others!
Hail to the crimson and the blue!

On Junior Four ! Roll up that score!
We'll rally round thee, and fight to win the fray;
We are not slow-just watch us go-
Ring out thy praises increasing every day!
We love thy name, We sing thy fame!
Just give us victory, we'll shout it, to the sky;
Crimson and blue we cherish you-
Wave ever proudly forever and aye.

Remember?? :)

Mack:
The YMCA located at E State and N Clinton Avenue was torn down and replaced with a State Building. I believe money is being generated to build a new YMCA on the lot where the Apex Lumber Yard was, across the street from the Old Roebling Administration Building.
