OK Noel...but remember through the years Sports Night was held..Red Team holds the record for wins!
Tenor sax - Red Band '61 Go Pass!!

Does anyone remember when bandleader Paul Whiteman was one of the Sports Night judges???

Right on Paulie! My brother was Red Band Leader in '67. Cousin Frank Locane was leader in '63. Sports Nite was first resumed when I was the band director at THS in 1972. Was again suspended for a number of years and made a brief comback in early '90's

Pass...any relation to Richie Locane..if I remember correctly he played trumpet.

Tom Pass said...

Yes, Rich is my cousin and in fact I saw him yesterday. I think it was baritone horn.

Saxman said...

Please say "hi" to him for me. We had some good times way back then!

Tom,
Your brother must be Chet. In '67 Kenny Trainor was Black Band Leader. I think the Black team won that year. My sisters Carol '60,and my sister Vera '64, were Black team heads of specialty dancers.

I was black band leader in '62 (tenor sax). WE WON!!! Paul Carney was red band leader (bass sax)great band, great guy and we are still friends to this day. Tom Pass helped me with his arrangement of Little Boy Blue. A fellow in my band, George Papp (alto sax) was black band leader in '63. As Tom mentioned Frank Locane was red leader in '63. Frank was a good guy and good friend, may he rest in peace.

Chet is my brother. Will tell Rich Locane that Saxman sends his regards. Paul Carney, George Papp. et al great guys indeed. Bob had really fine band in '62. Now the question is when was last time he opened his sax case...

Noel,

Your last name must be Vento.
Vera was wonderful dancer. A truly lovely girl.

I was part of the "non-partisan" Usher Corps from the Key Club, class of '64.

Noel Vento said...

Vento it is. I guess I should have noted that. I'll pass your message on to her.

Tom,
I played in college, but had no time in med school. Now I'm not sure which end to blow into. Trying to get a decent ambissure on the wide end is a bitch.
