There were no movie theatres in Trenton in my day. To see
movies we went to Independence Mall 2, Pennsbury Theatre,
Directors Chair, Quakerbridge 4, Lawrence 2 , Mercer Mall
4. But according to CinemaTreasures.org these
theatres were once in South Trenton:
Bella Theatre 721 Chestnut Avenue (1920s)
Bijou Theatre 1100 South Clinton Avenue (1905-early 1960s)
RKO Theatre 920 South Broad Street 1923-1964
The Center Theatre 422 Center Street 1910s-1950s
Greenwood Theatre 1054 Greenwood Avenue 1930s-1980
Liberty Theatre, Cummings & West Street 1910s
Victory Theatre 800 South Broad Street 1920s-1940s.
Well. The Bijou is todays Jesus Saves Church,The RKO is
the CYO, The Center is Reddy Pharmacy, The Greenwood
is torn down, The Liberty may be Landolfis and The
Victory may have been Kurda Furs.
There were theatres all over Trenton. Too many to post here
but many Burg folks knew those too:)

There was the Olden Theatre right next to Marruca's Tomato Pies on Olden Ave. Past by that place many times heading to Home Ave.

Although not in South Trenton, let's not forget the Park Theater at intersection of Washington and Anderson Sts. Also the Palace Theater located very close to where the new Mercer County Courthouse is on S. Broad St.
Also not in the Burg or South Trenton, one by our old house in North Trenton was the Brunswick Theatre near the circle. Righ across the street was a great tomatoe pie place when I was little, I thing the name was Cassianni's., real small about 10 tables, pick your own soda, reminds me of Sam's on So. Broad.
And the Hamilton Theater on S. Broad. Exterior was match to Brunswick Theater.

How about going across the street...South Broad and going to Vic Rice's....soda, burgers...or golf....and you could also get your car upolstered at Rayco Seat Covers!
Rayco is still at that location.

Yes.....it was an ice cream place..not sure, maybe Carvels??..right next to the power lines.
Saxman: It was not Carvel's, Roe and I tried to remember it for the longest time. Finally got the right answer from Tom Glover's Blogs and now I can't even remember it. Began with an H, send Tom an e-mail and he'll answer you real quick.

I think the ice cream place on So. Broad that looked like a snow mountain was called Garrett's. I'm pretty sure.

My sister worked at the candy counter in the RKO Broad in the late 40's...took me along so I got to watch many pics for free...she also got to keep some of the marquee posters from some classic films. After closing she would take me right next door to a soda shop...don't remember the name..can see the owner with his white half-apron on and a WC Fields-type nose.

Hey Joey......Her name is Margaret...Marg....we all called her Cookie...she married Carmen Calerone from North Trenton in the early 50's...Lou was the ring-bearer for her wedding..I think he was around 3 or so...and sick that day.
Thanks Paulie, Cookie now I remember, when Lou hung around I only remember Ermie. How's Cookie doing, hope all is fine.
They live outside of Chicago...we talk on a regular basis...mary ann and I went out to see them a couple of years ago and they came to NH to visit..Lou was here at the same time. Thanks for asking!
