The Trenton Freeway
Many Burg folks of my Dad used the Trenton Freeway for various
destinations. We often used it to go to my aunt's house in
Ewing. Exiting on the ramp that took you to North Olden Avenue
and you then went over bumpy railroad tracks before reaching
North Olden Avenue. After Quakerbridge Mall was built many
Burg folks used this to go there. I remember those big gas
storage tanks and all the factories along the side of the
road of the Trenton Freeway.

They say that in "Urban Sociology" that the creation of roads like the Freeway divided towns. They cut neighborhoods in half. Friends could no longer mingle and meet, especially the older folks.
Such is progress. BTW, cool 61 Falcon had a break down? Well that was the platform for the first Mustang and the reason they didn't handle without special attention like from Caroll Shelby of Cobra fame.

HI MAC...HAVING WORKED AT THE POST OFFICE ALONG SIDE THE CANAL THAT BECAME THE FREEWAY IN THE 40 AND 50'S GAVE ME A BIRD'S EYE VIEW OF WHAT WAS GOING ON IN THOSE DAYS. I GOT TO SEE MANY CHANGES SINCE LEAVING CHAMBERSBURG AND MOVING TO VILLA PARK. BEST REGARDS.

I must plead ignorance on the Trenton Freeway as it was always there in my days thus I do not know what they tore down if they tore down stuff for it...I thought the ramp from the Barlow Street Circle was kinda cool looking as a kid:)
Nightmare rode along with all those circles in town and on Brunswick Ave.
