South Broad Street 1937, Franklin Park

South Broad Street 1937, Franklin Park

Those of us who went to Junior Four should know this scene
well. It looked similar with of course a few changes in my
Junior Four days of the mid 1970s:)

HI MAC....THAT LOOKS LIKE DAYTON AND SO. BROAD. IN 1932 WHEN I WAS GOING TO JUNIOR 4. IN 1937 I WAS A SENIOR AT TRENTON HIGH BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER THE WALK TO JR.4. WALKING WAS A BIG THING IN MY YOUNGER DAYS. ONE SATURDAY WE WALKED ALL THE WAY FROM PRINCETON, IN THE RAIN YET, NO ONE PICKED US UP DURING OUR HITCH HIKING TO WATCH THE TIGERS PLAY FOOTBALL. REGARDS.

Hi Ralph:))
My walk to and from Trenton High was one mile each way..similar to your walk to Junior 4. Plus we often we add to that by going to friends homes . Kid feet can walk all day long.

From Princeton is really a hike. My guestimate is average walking speed is about 20 minutes for each mile. From the stadium in Princeton I guess is like 15 miles from the Burg... 300 minutes..5 hours of walking wow:)
