Ralph Lucarella's Burg Area Baseball Memories
Hi Mack: I know most of your readers are not my age but
some may remember these Burg players on the Schroths.
Tallone, Rossi, Filadore, the Zasso brothers. John
Merlino, Don Pugliese and Don Palumbo played during my
time. From South Trenton came the Micarski brothers and
the great George (Shorty) Nemchick, who along with Al
Cooper played on the U.S.A. soccer team in the Olimpics.
Some may remember the great teams of 'Red' Smith at
Trenton High and Mickey Lake at Trenton Catholic, both
with many Burg players. My brother's team in 1948 also
had their share of Burg players. He played on the
Schroths for 2 years while his teamate Marty Devlin
played 3 years. Most kids were fortunate to play 1
year.I could on and on writing about sports in the
Burg. The Kent A.A. teams of the past were great.

HI MAC...I WOULD LIKE TO ADD THE MOST EXCITING PLAY I SAW WAS WHEN MY BROTHER "CHUCK" STOLE HOME IN INDIANAPOLIS IN 1948 DURING THE AMERICAN LEGION WORLD SERIES. BUS SAIDT WAS BROADCASTING THE GAME ON THE RADIO AND THE SCHROTHS WON THE GAME TO BECOME CHAMPIONS. REGARDS.
