A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

HI MAC...ROEBLINGS AND THE CIGAR FACTORIES ARE WHAT KEPT CHAMBERSBURG ALIVE IN THE EARLY DAYS. DURING THE 20'S I CAN RECALL MOST OF THE WOMEN WEARING FACTORY SMOCKS AND THE MEN WALKING TO WORK. I DON'T REMEMBER SEEING MANY CARS AROUND, HENSE NO PARKING LOTS FOR THE BUSINESS PLACES OR WHERE YOU WORKED. HORSE AND WAGONS WERE STILL BEING USED AND YOU COULD SEE ARRANGEMENTS TO TIE UP YOUR HORSE. MY FATHER HAD A HORSE AND WAGON THAT HE KEPT ON A LOT WE HAD ON SO. OLDEN AVE. ANOTHER JOB YOU DON'T SEE ANYMORE ARE STREET CLEANERS, WE HAD A RELATIVE DOING THAT WORK FOR QUITE SOME TIME. THERE WERE VERY FEW IN THE BURG IN THOSE DAYS THAT WERE UNEMPLOYED.
Hi Ralph:)
Great post:)))
And by my Burg day jobs were in restaurants in the Burg, or working for the City,State or County, or working at one of the local malls, or perhaps at one of the Route One area corporations:))
