Thanks so much for posting these photos and memories - it's
really great to see. This is the house I grew up in and was
indeed, Thatcher-Lloyd Funeral Home! My grandparents, Richard
(Dick) and Florence Lloyd owned the family business. My father
- their oldest child, Phil, was the last to operate it.
He passed away 10 years ago. My uncle, Bruce Lloyd, is Phil's
younger brother and did teach science at Trenton High for
many years. There were 3 kids - Linda Lloyd is the youngest
and they did attend Calvary Baptist Church. Again, thanks for
the nostalgia. It's good to know they are remembered well. ,
The business goes back 1 more generation to Florence's father
(my great-grandfather), Ralph Thatcher. He was licensed as a
funeral director as early as 1902 and probably even earlier
(I remember seeing an old license of his with that year).
I believe the original location of the funeral home was 958
S. Broad and Ralph had 986 commissioned to be built - it was
finished in the late 20's or early 30's.
Thank You So Much for this Karen.
And God Bless The Old Burg:)

Linda Lloyd was my best friend for many years. I knew the whole family and was a guest in their upstairs home many times. Sometimes, before Linda and I could go out on a Saturday morning, we would have to clean the viewing rooms. When no funerals were taking place, Linda would play the organ!
We've lost track with one another and I wish there was a way to reconnect. If anyone knows Linda, please let her know that Leslie Bosco would love to see her again.
Hi, Mack,
It's been a while.
Bruce Lloyd, son of Richard Lloyd, one of the founders of the Thatcher-Lloyd Funeral Home, and a former science teacher at Trenton High, passed away at the age of 78, January 6, 2022.
I remember the the Lloyd family occupying a regular pew at Calvary Baptist Church for many years. They were a truly wonderful family.
My condolences to Bruce's family, friends and former students.
Stay safe-

Hello and thank you for letting me know about Bruce. I knew him when I was a teenager. I met the Lloyds one summer when they rented a house in Seaside. I spent a lot of time with the family both in Seaside and in Trenton,
Linda was my best friend but over the years, we've lost track with one another.
If anyone knows anything about Linda, can you please put us in touch?
Many thanks,
Leslie (Bosco) Certo
Glad I could help, Leslie. We were probably neighbors - we lived on the 800 block of S. Clinton. Went to Harrison School, Jr4 and THS ('64).
Long shot: were you related to Pete Bosco, who worked at the Navy Turbine Test Station in Ewing? Back in the day, "Petey" gave me a used jet turbine blade, that I lost long ago. He was a close friend of my dad.
Best of fortune this crazy year.
