JFK Motorcade Downtown Trenton 1960
I was not born at this time but this is for any folks
who remember those days:)
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

As kids at Saint Hedwig's it was a major deal that a Catholic was running for President. The motor route was along Olden from Mercer Airport so we waited in front of the school. It was a very long wait since he was behind.
The issue they said was as a Catholic he was beholden to the Pope and could not even declare war without Papal permission.
I remember "Give Em' Hell" Harry Truman coming down by State and Olden when I was real small.

HI MAC ....I RECALL SHAKING HANDS WITH DWITH EISENHOWER IN THE 50'S. WE WERE STOPPED AT A LIGHT AND I RAN OVER TO SEE HIM AND HE GLADLY SPOKE TO ME AND ASKED IF I WAS A VETERAN. EVERYONE I KNEW WHO SERVED UNDER HIM HAD NOTHING BUT PRAISE FOR HIM. BEST REGARDS.
I was at the State House when JFK gave is speech.
Hi all:)
I keep the blog non-political but a future prez in town is an event so I posted this. Thanks for the observations:)
My Dad worked at the Morven in Princeton, when JFK was there, met him and Mom & I saw him drive down Brunswick Ave.
