Early Spring Sunshine Over Mott Street, The Burg

Early Spring Sunshine Over Mott Street, The Burg
The morning in many of these Burg houses was taking a
fast bath, often with others knocking on the door
saying "hurry up". Then a quick breakfast. Then
Dad kissing Mom as he headed out the door to work.
The mirror downstairs where everyone combed their
hair on the way out the door. Mom with the words
"You kids be good" as we went off to school.
Remember?

I remember the first time my wife, who grew up in the suburbs, saw me soaking in a hot tub of water. She was shocked that someone actually did that, "took a bath", but back in our day few had converted yet to showers. My Mom's house still has a tub with only a hand held shower. I think back in "her day", they had to haul a few buckets of hot water off the coal stove to take a bath. They still had that when I was a kid in the 50's.
