Lou Crecco

Lou Crecco
This is from 1981. Lou Crecco was the owner of Creccos
Restaurant and Bar on 273 Morris Avenue on the corner
of Morris Avenue and Anderson Street in the Burg. The
place was in his family and was there from the 1940s
to the 1990s. Frank Sinatra dined there, among other
famous people. Lou ran an ad in the Trentonian
newspaper congratulating local folks for their
achievements. I delivered the paper here in the
mid 1970s. Thank you for this great picture Dennis
Bush.

Hi Ralph:)

AS a kid I had no idea how special the Burg was and what a local legend like LC was. It was just the place I was from. Later on I came to appreciate all of it:)

I remember going to Grecco's all the time c my parents from the age of 11 or 12. My Dad was a friend and over the years I came to know his son who lived in North Miami when I also lived in Miami.
Over the years , as a kid, teen my parents had spots that we always went to incluluding Treonfetti's, Crecco's, ang Chick and Nello's. Also, I don't know if anyone remembers the Glendale Inn in west Trenton?

I worked at Greccos a long time ago. Started there in 1972 at about 13 years old as a bus boy and remember Lou, as everyone called him, as a very family and community minded person. His father and mother we often there and it was always an adventure doing set up and having to listen to both of them with thier different ideas as to how to set the table right. I stayed on thier and eventually was the Night Chef at age 17 when the New York times finally came there to review. Working there with Lou and his two daughters Linda and Lois was an experience I will never forget and I want to thank them for starting me on a career that would see me thru Culinary school at C.I.A. and and becoming a respected chef in my own right. Thanks again Lou

Dave,
I worked there as a dishwasher as well as food prep with Angie, Mary and Silvia. I worked with Tim, 2 Joe's, and I think I remember you.
I was wondering if you have the recipe for the Saturday Night Family gathering.
I recall it had chicken drumets, Italian sausage, and pork or beef ribs. If you recall the recipe for it I would love to have it. Still to this day I crave it.
My email address is vnwllw2000@yahoo.com
Don't know if you remember me as Karen or Terry Van'Es

Dave I went to greccos on numerous occasions when I worked at the state house and with my dear friend Maggie that grew up in Trenton. Anyway I also crave a recipe from Greco’s the chicken cacciatore, it was in a white wine sauce, not a red chicken cacciatore, which makes it unique finger licking awesome recipe. If there is anyway I could get that my email address is CaptainJoan1@me.com

I loved hanging out in the burg, very unique place. I haven’t been there in years I hope it’s stayed the same.
