The Acme Market on Roebling Avenue in the Burg.
Later it became a State Office of some sort.

HI MAC....THAT SITE WAS WHERE THE HEWITT SCHOOL WAS LOCATED. WE LIVED RIGHT DOWN THE STREET ON FRANKLIN IN 1937 AND MOST KIDS FROM THE BURG ONLY LIVED A FEW FEET AWAY. THAT'S WHY WE NEVER SAW SCHOOL BUSSES, THERE ALWAYS WAS A SCHOOL IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD. BEST REGARDS.

Hi Ralph:)
That was still mostly true of the Burg in my day. I never took a bus to school and none of my friends did either. The one exception to that rule was the kids who went to Saint Anthonys/McCorristin Highschool or Notre Dame:)

Hi Mack, lived directly across the street. Tha's an alley on the right hand side that went to Emory Ave and Joe Latini's deli.
