Kid feet can walk all day.
Trenton High was about .97 miles from me on Liberty Street
and I often added to that by detouring over to friends
homes along the way, plus all the walking inside Trenton
High itself which is huge and then the walking at lunch
out to Casino or Manninos or Storkeys or Zips then the
walk back at lunch then the walk home. Heck I probubly
walked like 4 miles a day 5 days a week just doing that
not including football/baseball games at the local parks
and walking to and from folks homes in the Burg after
school. I bet if you add up all the places you walked
as an average you get a similar or larger number. Kid
Feet can walk all day!

No kidding about kid feet. We use to walk from Beatty St. to the movies downtown on a Saturday night no problems, now it's tough to walk around the block.
Circle or Colonial Lanes or Whitehead Lake were the norm.
Longest walk when I was a kid was taking the bus to Princeton and then walking around Carnegie Lake to Kingston and then back down 27 to 206 in Trenton. That was frosh year at ND and the next day my dogs were killing me. Mom made me go to school for being stupid.

HI MAC...WOULD YOU BELIEVE WE WALKED FROM PRINCETON, WHERE WE WOULD HITCH HIKE TO WATCH THE TIGERS PLAY FOOTBALL, TO TRENTON WHEN WE WERE ABOUT 15 YEARS OLD. AND MOST OF THE WALK WAS IN THE RAIN. FOR SOME REASON NO ONE STOPPED TO PICK US UP AND I HAD NO PROBLEM SLEEPING THAT NIGHT. BEST REGARDS.
Hitching to Princeton each time was an experience. We would go to Morven and such:
A very drunk and swigging from a pint foreign fellow sitting in a kitchen chair because the entire interior was missing.
Hanging onto the running board of a Model T or something. There was only room for one of us sitting in the car so I hung on that window for dear life.
Skip ... it beat walking
Speaking of walking. Do you remember walking with a little bounce on either your right or left foot? You kind of stepped up on your toe, sorta like a strut? Very cool...
