Todays Burg Notes

Anna Lucy Leonardi was born in Trenton and was a lifelong
resident of the city. With her late husband, she owned and
operated the Capital Poultry Market in the Chambersburg
section of Trenton. She retired in 1970. She was the wife
of Agostino Leonardi. The Capital Poultry Market
was on 320 Anderson Street.

Nancy R. Migliaccio Ciaramella was She was born in Trenton
and was a lifelong area resident. Mrs. Ciaramella, along with
her husband Michael, owned and operated the Italian Ice Store
in Chambersburg on Butler Street across from StJoachims Church.

Daniel D. Piscopo was born in Trenton. A U.S. Army Air Corps
veteran of World War II, he was the recipient of the WWII
Victory and Good Conduct medals, and a member of the Italian
-American Veterans Post No. 2 of Trenton. Daniel treasured the
opportunity of having played baseball with Joe DiMaggio during
his military service. An avid sports fan, Daniel also served as
a coach for the Chambersburg Little League for many years,
including coaching the Columbus A's. He was one of the original
team managers of Chambersburg Little League as well as managing
All Star teams. In his youth, he and his brothers were baseball
players for many local and state teams.

Angelo Vittorio Tammaro was born in Favignana, Sicily, he served
in the Italian Navy during World War II, before moving to America
and becoming a U.S. citizen. He was co-owner of Angelo Tammaro's
Deli in Chambersburg where he worked along with his wife, Alda,
for more than 40 years.

Erasmo S. "Chick" Ciccolella was born in New York City, Mr.
Ciccolella resided in the Chambersburg section of Trenton for
most of his life. Mr. Ciccolella was an educator in Trenton for
nearly 60 years. He began his teaching career at Trenton Junior
High Number One and later transferred to Trenton Central High
School, where he taught for 50 years before his retirement as
head of the English department. He later taught at Notre Dame
High School for a few years. Mr. Ciccolella was the author of
a book, "Vibrant Life: Trenton's Italian Americans" and
founder of the Humanities Society at Trenton High.
