A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

I remember that snowfall but don't miss that stuff anymore.
I forgot about Yards, Kitty Kelly and Parklane. Dunham's and Lit's or Nevius (bargain basement) for certain but Yards escaped me.
My mom was kind of tiny and I got her something from Lane Bryant once and she never let me live it down.
Still Christmas in that shot and I think that was the snowfall when I "broke" my foot by falling under a Bond Bread tow truck while the fellow was "freelancing" getting people unstuck.
My love of snow never stopped until my health gave out a few years ago. Till my late 50's I still used to put about 50 to 70 days on snow skiing and teaching each winter. That love affair started back at Belle Mountain in the 60's.
Great shot of the Broad Street Bank where we used to pay rent to Mister Finkle. The family still has a great old fashioned (for real), hardware store in Lambertville.
Thanks for that winter tour Mack! :) :)

How many remember that surprise Easter snow storm. It was probably around the same time.
New shoes under "galoshes" and the gals with the Easter Bonnet in a bag coming into church?

I HAD TO DELIVER MAIL IN THAT STUFF WALKING UP AND DOWN THE STEPS ON WEST STATE STREET ACROSS FROM THE STATE HOUSE IN THE 1950'S.
I remember driving around in that snow storm as a rookie 17 year old driver.
I was attending Junior Four at the time. Our gang made a mint that year shoveling snow and spent nearly all of it playing pinball at Anthony's Steak House.
My prime customer was Mr. John Bowers at the Trenton Trust Bank on Hudson and S. Broad. A few years later he wrote up my first new car loan when I got out of the Navy.
GREAT PIC!!!
