i have NEVER seen anyone in there.

st. francis church is downtown. it closed a few years ago and merged with sacred heart.

..or was the cemetary related with st francis hospital???

i guess, at the time when the cemetary was created, roebling and wahington was "the sticks".

Brando,

In doing genealogy research about folks from Trenton, it seems that a lot of German-born and children of German born folks were having the funeral mass said at St. Francis on Front Street and subsequently being buried in St. Francis Cemetery. St. Francis of Assisi Church on Front seemed to have a large German Catholic congregation in the late 1800s and early 1900s from the obituaries I have seen in my research.

in any case, the cemetery is a long way from the church, considering there were no motor vehicles around until about the 1920s or so.

it was "in the sticks".
