Skelton Library, South Broad Street, The Burg.
Skelton Library, South Broad Street, The Burg.
A new picture of the cool looking old Doorway:)
This was a place to go and cool off in the days before
air conditioning was common. A couple of hours in the
library was a nice summer thing. As was going over to
Junior Four's Swimming Pool or getting Ice Cream over
at the Triangle:)

My understanding is that all Trenton branch libraries - including Skelton - will be closed because of lack of funding. The main library will be kept open.
Also, my first schoool, Harrison School on Genessee St., was closed after 107 years at the end of the last school year.
Times are tough in T-Town.
That's exactly what my friend Karen and I used to do, go in and cool off. As a youngster I remember going up that grand staircase. It is a shame that it is slated for closure. My brother's first job was at the Skeleton library. I wonder what they will do with that gorgeous building, I hope it doesn't turn into another eyesore.
Terri
My buddy Lou (Saxman's Brother) worked there also, we started our Friday nights right after he got off. The building is a classic and should be preserved.
Hi SJ Terri & Joe:)
I loved Skelton and it is indeed
a beautiful building.
A city that had its priorities straight would of course find the
money to keep the libraries open.
People gotta whine as the squeaky
wheel gets the grease, Pols will
respond. And I must say City of Trenton does a very nice job keeping its parks in good shape (at least all the Burg area ones I have walked thru).
