The Shakey Bridge, Stacey Park, Trenton

The Shakey Bridge, Stacey Park, Trenton
I knew the Shakey Bridge from driving by on Route 29
and having Mom and Dad point it out to me. Its still
there today. This is an old picture of it for any of
the Burg area folks who remember old Stacey Park:)

This is the first photo of anything like a creek going under the bridge that I've ever seen.

In all of my time, I'm pretty sure it was just a dry gulley?

I remember what was billed as the first commercial helicopter mail run taking off from Trenton to Philly in about 1955 and I think we use to walk to the bridge as an attraction.

Donated and built by the Robelings.

I live on The Island...the shakey bridge is still there, but generally ignored by all. It is still in good condition. There's alaways water running under it, but it really flows like the photo after a rain....its fed by street runoff. The City has recently threatened to "move" the bridge, but they haven't. It could use an interpretive sign and twice a year cleaning & repairing. But the city sure won't do it. Thanks for the best old picture I've ever seen of the Shaky Bridge!!

The bridge spans the "Waste Weir" which carries excess water from the Delaware and Raritan Canal Feeder to the Delaware River. There is more water flowing when flood gates are opened.
