A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

When we were kids in the late 50's and 60's it was just another field where we played ball. Across the street on Princeton Avenue was the Dunfield Auto Parts but that never tipped us off.
It became the Penn Fruit Grocery store at that time on the Brunswick circle and they were nice enough to mow that field so we could play all summer.
It was down the street from Mac's beloved Gino's but the real star was Pix where the burgers were a bag or 5 for a $1. Behind Pix was Circle Lanes, a bowling alley.
Again, thanks to Ed Smolinski, one of Trenton's star ball players who kept us active with baseball at Dunn, football in the Brunswick Bank lot or basketball at the Y. Ed is still around and lives in Frankiln Park.
The rumor was that was Willy Mays first game as a pro.

HI YA. THAT WAS'NT A RUMOR ABOUT WILLIE MAYS. THEY SIGNED HIM RIGHT OUT OF HIGH SCHOOL AND HE DID'NT SHOW UP ON TIME. HE FINALLY DID AND MADE A TERRFIC IMPRESSION. CIRCLE BOWLING LANES WERE BUILT ABOUT THE SAME TIME WE HAD THE HAMILTON BOWLING LANES; I BELIEVE JOE SIMONE BUILT THEM.
Skip and Ralph, my Dad saw Willie play there. We played baseball at the same place in the summer. Remember Pix well and bowling alley too.
