The Cigar Factory in the 1930s

The Cigar Factory in the 1930s
Here it was right in the Burg area where so many folks
worked and where Winston Churchill got some of his cigars:)

Hi Mac....Like I've mentioned many times, at one time or another, I believe every female in Chambersburg worked at the Cigar Factory. They were very neat but their smocks smelled of tobacco like you can't imagine. My mother brought home a few for my father but he smoked them in his pipe. They worked piece work as a team and that presented problems when someone was'nt as fast as others. The girls on College Street could roll right out of bed and go to work. It brings back memories like it happened yesterday. Regards.
