HEY MACK:

ONE OF MY SINGING BUDDIES FROM THE CLASS OF 1951 AT HAMILTON HIGH WAS PANTALEONE ("LEE") BELARDINO. LEE RETIRED FROM THE U.S. AIR FORCE AND LIVES IN CALIFORNIA, BUT WE HAVE STAYED IN TOUCH WITH EACH OTHER. HE ALWAYS WAS AND IS A CLASS ACT. WE ARE BOTH STILL SINGING EVEN IN OUR LATE 70'S.

YOUR C'BURG PHOTOS AND MEMORABILIA GIVES COMFORT TO MANY, MANY FORMER AND CURRENT "BURGERS;" WELL DONE!

Italo-American Grocery kinda creeped me out when i was really young.

it was always dark in there. i think they used 1 40-watt bulb to light the entire store.

there was never too much stock displayed on the shelves either.

it almost looked like the place was abandoned.

but, they did sell really good cheese!

Hi Mac...I have to repeat what I thought about the best Italian Grocery Store on Hudson St. and probably throughout Chambersburg. The Mazzelli store in my early Burg days had the pure, Italian exports in pasta, brassuto, olive oil, provalone and all the spices my Mom needed to prepare the food that my Father was used to. As a child, I was'nt crazy about some of those spices, but got used to them latter on. Especially the garlic and some of the others. I well say that I believe one of the reasons that I'm still around at my age is the food I ate as a child. Best Regards.

also Mutagelli's tavern on Mott and Hudson, also a sewing factory across from Hudson Beer Gardens.
