A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Mack, I went to Murphy's a few times in the early 70's. It later became the Seafood Shanty, don't even know if it is still there.
Murphy's used to be Murphy's Chuck Wagon, and breakfast joint across the street. They swapped sites with an exisitng liquor store and wound up on the NW corner or Prospect and Olden.
During the late 60s, Murphy's was huge - *the* place to be. There were crowds of former THS students - the last place I saw most of them.
The back room featured local acts like "Jacob's Creek" and "Alexander Rabbit."
"Alexander Rabbit" wrote and performed one of the early rock operas called "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and was formed from the original Galaxies IV band shown in the ad. One of the band members, Chris Holmes, is the son of the former RKO Lincoln organist, Bolton Holmes. They had pretty decent talent, but I moved onto the jazz world.
Found an interview here: http://home.uni-one.nl/kesteloo/galaxiesiv.html
Hi JoeZ & SJ:)
Seafood Shanty was there when I worked for Wendys on that block
now 30 years ago. It caught fire
and burned down years ago. Something else is there now (A
CVS?) I remember the liquor store
across the street too:)
