Joe Battiste Wants To Know About The Original Pete's Steakhouse

Joe Battiste wants to know about the original Pete's
Steakhouse on Anderson Street.

Mack:
I wonder if you can find some information on the original
Pete's Steakhouse location. When I came out of service the
one on Chambers Street was popular, but I do not know where
the original one was located. I believe it was some where on
Anderson Street. The one on Chambers Street burned down.
His son started one in Mercerville, then Ewing and one on
Hudson and Elmer, finally taking over Monti's on White Horse
Avenue.
Joe B,

Thank You Joe:)

Note: According to my records Petes Steakhouse was located
at 1458 Chambers Street in Franklin Park in 1957. I also
remember the Pete's Steakhouse in Mercerville near the
Flower Shop on Hamilton Avenue at Nottingham Way.

UPDATE:

My Dad Ed MacNicoll adds:
I remember the steak house on Chambers Street, and if I
remember right they would sell 500 or more steaks a day.
The local factories like Crescent wire, Roebling's,
Trenton Potteries, C. V Hill, American Bridge and others
would send "runners" at lunch time to pick them up.
At night time, I remember all the cars. Reminds me of the
"Happy Days" TV show.

I have some old 8mm film of a family luncheon there after celebrating my first Holy Communion at St. Joachim's. That was followed by an outing to Cadwalader Park. The new Pete's Steak House in Hamilton has been a huge success in part due to those who remember the original.

Hi Tom:)

WOW:)

This place is like many others on here, a bit before my time.. but I love how much folks cared about the ole places with sights and sounds and smells and tastes not forgotten:)

Hi Mack: Two guys I knew well in my younger days were Pete Tonti and Anthony Storcella. They always talked about going into business cause finding a job in the 30s was tough. We called Anthony, Storky in those days and he opened a store on Front St. and latter on Hamilton Ave. Pete Tonti, I believe, opened Pete's Steak House but he moved so often I forgot where the original place was. I think I'm starting to lose it in my latter years. Regards, Ralph.

My Dad, Nick "Bootsie" D'Angelo used to work at C.V. Hill...what did they make? Does anyone know? Where was their plant?
