A Grey Winter Day On Howell Street, Franklin Park
This was near our home in The Burg. There was once
a Photography Shop at the corner of Howell Street
and Dayton Street. It was a one story green stucco
building. It is gone and there is a ranch style home
where it once stood. It was called Reliable Photo
Service and its address was 101 Howell Street:)

Hi Mack: We lived at my wife's parents house at 13 Howell St. on and off during the early years. It was right off Liberty St. and across the street from the barrel plant. That was in the early 40s, a few years age we went back for a visit and the house looked like it was brand new. I know you lived in the same neigborhood and mention the Franklin Park area often. We lived at 824 Liberty in the
Burg which was less than a minute
walk to 13 Howell Street.
We didnt move there until the 1960s
but you might have known some of
my neighbors who were there earlier. Harry & Carol Merrion,
Ernie & Mary Pabers, Anthony
& Florence Britschge, Max Garret
from the Deli on Liberty & Woodland, Harry Scabarozi, Anthony
DeFrank. I do not know when those
folks first came to the neighborhood but some may have been
there in the 40s:)
I knew Tony DeFrank very well. He was one of the best trap shooters in the area. He won many tournaments and lived next door to us on Howell St. They used to repair appliances and ended up building a store on the empty lot next to us.
