762 Roebling Avenue, The Burg
Once upon a time this was Freddy's Bar and Grill in
the 1950s. This was La Gondola Ristorante in my Burg
Day. This is a new picture taken yesterday:)
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Mack, Rosemary and my favorite place to eat. Angelo and the entire staff was great. Best Mussels Marinara. Had a great Veal Parm Sandwich anytime of the day. What is the place now?
Hi Joe:)
I have no idea what this is being
used for now. This picture is from
yesterday as is pointed out in the post. There are no new signs on it.
(Do you see any?)
Maybe its being used by a
Caterer?? I have no clue.
My Grandmother's brother Freddy was the owner when it was Freddy's Bar. My Grandmother worked in the kitchen.
Hi Anon:)
What was Freddy's last name
and do you have any pictures
of him and your Grandma you
might like to send?
If so, send them to
Kirriemuir1962@gmail.com
If not, no problem, but
I had to ask:)
Thanks for looking at the blog:)
Just loved this place, we used to hit it for lunch a couple of times a week, Mary the cook, made the best shrimp salad ever, she never cut up the shrimp but left them whole and don't get me started on her chicken cacciatori, MY GOD my mouth is watering and getting teary too, she would'nt give me the recipe, said it was a secret LOL but she sort of hinted, she never used any tomato sauce in it, was only red wine and wine vinegar with lots of garlic and rosemary... I have come close, but no cigar in trying to find the right taste.... both she and Fred were great, even when Freddy was not a happy camper... it seems his tent collapsed daily LOL
just a note, I will be up in the area in October, planning on lunch and dinner at Rossi's...
