Washington Street Meets Anderson Street Near Hamilton Avenue in the Early Fall, The Burg

Washington Street Meets Anderson Street Near Hamilton Avenue in
the Early Fall, The Burg. Click on this picture and fill your
screen with a classic Burg moment. The Casino can be seen in
the picture. The triangular area between the two streets one
had a Theatre on it. Up a ways is Hamilton Avenue.
A place we all walked (as Trenton High kids) or drove by to
go to the Casino for an Italian Hot Dog...maybe walk down
Miami Alley to Columbus Park along the way to somewhere else.
God Bless the Old Burg:)

Hi Mack: I have to mention again that there are two things missing in that picture. My elementary school; which was called Hamilton, located where Roma Savings now stands and the Park Theatre. Most of the kids in Villa Park and the Burg went to both. The Park had an employee, his name was (Kid Specks) Mercantini, who was a local boxer and looked after things. Two of the kids I went to school with were Angelo (Scrappy) Migliori and Joe Brenna who latter became two of the popular doctors in the Burg. Regards, Ralph

I remember the school where Roma Savings is now. It was torn down with a wrecking ball around 1960. I also remember the abandoned little movie house too. It stood there oddly for decades as a relic of a distant era, when people would actually walk to see a picture show.
