Mack,
For what it's worth, the photo last week of Cummings Avenue
flooding and the ones this week of Revere Avenue reminded me
of two photos of the intersection of Revere and Mifflin in
Villa Park that appeared in the Trenton newspapers. The first
was taken on Easter Sunday (April 21) 1957 and appeared in the
following morning's Trentonian. It shows my dad, thirteen of his
fifteen children and, on the far left, my oldest sister's
husband and three children. (Mom had passed away the previous
July and two of my brothers were away in the Air Force. I
guess we were all set to attend Easter services at Immaculate
Conception church. The second photo was taken on Saturday,
July 17, 1965 and appeared in the next day's Trenton Sunday
Times Advertiser. This is the same intersection from a different
angle. Late that Saturday afternoon, Trenton was hit with a
typical summer thunderstorm and as frequently happened the storm
drains at Revere and Mifflin could not handle the onslaught of
rain. My neighbor got the boat he kept in his yard and proceeded
to paddle down Revere with his three kids, me and another neighbor
on board. I guess the Times photographer thought it would make
a good photo opportunity. Often basements on Revere would be
flooded by the heavy rains. Sometime in the early 1970s the city
tore up Revere and replaced the storm drains and the flooding
problem was alleviated.

Oh and PS I love the big family
picture. I have 2 brothers and
3 sisters and remember "important"
items like having to wait your turn
to get the prize in the cereal box!
