123 Mott Street, The Burg
This one is for Ralph Lucarella:)
I saw you mentioned your family once live here and
had a store here Ralph:) So I went and took a new
picture of it a few days ago:)
A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Hi Mack: Thanks for the photo of our house. The people next door I believe, were eventual owners of the Paramount Bakery on Beatty St. JoeB lived a few doors down at 117 latter on. They converted the store into living quarters, One of the Pintos across the street played in the orchestra at the State Theatre when they had vaudeville.
Att: JoeB, I believe Battista, after they left Mazzillis, opened a store called Johnson's Market on Johnson Ave. and Greenwood out in Tom Glover's beloved Bromley. I was a little familar with that area when my older brother moved to Park Lane.
Hi Ralph:)
I find a Johnston Super Market
at Johnston Avenue and East
State Street (1567 E State St)
in 1957.
Also I find a Happy Hour Luncheonette across the street
at 1602 East State owned by a
Vincent Luccarrelli....almost
a Lucarella:)
Hi Mack; You are sure right. Johnson's Market was on Johnson and State, not Greenwood. When my brother moved to Park Lane he was thankful that Batista was near bye, he knew him from the Burg. The name Lucarello is very well known in Italy. For my birthday, my son ordered 3 bottles of wine called Lucarello, very expensive wine, bottled in Italy.
Ralph:
You talked about Paramount Bakery, the Bonnani's lived next door to me at 119 Mott Street. Their Daughter married the guy that started Paramount Bakery on Genesee. The Paramount Bakery was sold to a Guatemala and he also purchased Little Italy. Ralph I was asked a number of times if I was relative to the Battisti's that ran Johnson's Market. I did not know that he was originally part of Mazzilli. We are not related.
