Many of us old timers remember going to Dunn Field, on the
Brunswick Circle to watch the Trenton Giants play in the 40's
As I kid I saw many greats there, but at the time never realized
just how great they would become. There was "say Hey" Willie Mays,
fresh up from Birmingham and his team mates Dick Sisler, who went
to the Phillies and Baseball history, his brother, Boston's Dave
Sister and both sons of that great Baseball Great George Sisler,
and of course Trenton's own Great loveable Mo Cunningham.
We as kids were taken to see Willie play by the Trenton Police
Athlete League . We all had signed baseballs by Willie, Mo and
Dick. But we never realized their potential and yes, yes, yes.
..you know it...we all used these balls to play baseball and ruined
them. God! we were fools......George Case who played for the
Washington Senators and had a sports store on Perry street sat
with us kids a lot. He was part of the PAL team taking care of us
kids.. God Bless them all.

Mack, my Dad saw Willie Mays play there also, Dunn Field at the current Brunswick Circle area. When we first moved to Florida, the Astro's had a minor league team here. For the kids they had a Knot Hole Club, and kids got in for a $1.00 and received a coupon for a raffle held in the 7th inning. They gave away about 10 bats per night. My one son must have gotten 3 bats and 10 balls one summer. Autographs galore from these minor league players. I guess you can say that's when it was a game.

Bill,
Wow! That was good money.. It was a year or so later, I was working in CV Jills for $1,10 per hour, ( I lied and said I was 18, like most kids at that time)then I joined the Maries and we got $78.00 a month. $5 or $10 a night at that time...you had to be on cloud nine.
I'm pitcher Jim Arbucho's daughter!
