Mack: You're most recent posts really hit a memory nerve, I was a regular visitor to Tony Amato's barber shop in the 1940's. Old Tony used to holler at me for not sitting still in the barber chair when I shifted or itched my nose. I remember young Carl coming in to help his dad while he was on furlough from the U.S. Army. He was my barber right up to the time he moved.
Tom Glover (Again)
Hi Tom:))
Thank You:)
I post these lists hoping folks
will know some of the places or
know the family names like your post here:)
Mack: I got my first haircut at Gabby's on South Broad. My father brought me there in the early 1940s, when we used to live on Woodland St. When we moved to Villa Park, I went for many years to Len's ( I just can't remember his last name). He had two locations during the years I went there. Both across from Scachetti's store. First, on the corner of Lyndale and Liberty, and then across the street on Liberty, next to Widmann auto repair. I wish someone would come up with his last name. I remember, he lived on Pearl St.
Sam's at 1428 Liberty was Samuel Cerenzia (I hope it's spelled correctly). I went there a few time, because his son Walt was a friend of mine.
Hi Ray:)
Gabbys was 1336 South Broad Street
according to my records.
Owners name GABRIEL PALMIERI.
Wife Mary.
1721 Liberty Street was BROGLE'S
BARBER SHOP. Len lived at 246
Pearl Street. Wife Olympia.
You spelled good ole Sam's name
right and got his address right too. Sam was a good guy.. I was his paperboy in the 70s for a bit:)
I hope this is the data you were
looking for:)
