A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

October 8, 1956, Mr Deptula and the whole shop class sitting outside on the slanted porch and listening to the broadcast of the fifth game of the World Series on a radio Deptula had in the shop. Don Larsen completed "the perfect game" and beat my Brooklyn Dodgers. What an exciting memory!
Sax, do you still have your riveted BBQ fork made out of band iron? Or the turned ball-peen hammer with the knurled handle?
As a matter of fact, I do have my ball-peen hammer..and the top still unscrews!
I remember making the hammers
too.. have no idea where mine
went.
We made CO2 propelled wood
cars and raced them in the hall.
That was cool.
We also made little wood address
signs.
These "porches" were entries to t5he shops.
Does anyone remember lining up at the side entrance to the pool in the summer. Boys certain days, girls the others. Boys would swim " au natural". On the girl days we were all trying to peek. This would have been the mid fifties.
Bob Reck
Bob Reck...Joe Z's lady Rosemary, me and the girls were always 1st in line, only the 1st 25 got in to swim. No community pools for us kids back in the day.
When I got older and was allowed to walk further, I used to go to Woodlawn and Robin Dee Pools. Also used to lifeguard at both pools along with Tommy Mains.
After 3 years of lifeguarding at Woodlawn Pool, I think I qualified to be a lifeguard in Miami Beach. What a bunch of animals!
