A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

That is a view of Hub from the Sanders side of Beatty & Broad..a view I looked at many times in my early teenage years..hangin' on the corner in front of Sanders with my friends..Teddy Wood, Walt Szul, Adam Mazur..we "owned" that spot!!
Wasn't that down the block from the theater ( NOW CYO?)? Across from the theater was Jimmy"s Shoeshine and Numbers Parlor.
Bob Reck
Waited on that corner many times for the bus to get downtown. Still looks good.
Bob...yes it was. The joint across the street from the Broad Theater (CYO) was Radice's. I lived above the store for a time in 1963.
The old ice truck used to stop just about where that white car is parked. Hemade deliveries to the local bars at or near the corner.
On hot Summer Burg days, pieces of ice that "fell off the truck" kept up kids going.
No pics of Sanders, yet. I guess I took over your turf after you grew out of it, Sax. Sidney used to make shakes for us while we played match book football in the aisle away from the soda fountain.
I think I ate but one sandwich in that place, but drank many, many soadas and shakes -- especially after a long day of shoveling snow for dollars!
grilled cheese sandwich, chips and kosher pickle spear and coffee (we had to be adult about it and drink the java)...made by Mrs Sanders just right for us "boys".
I always remember that at Easter, Mrs. Sanders had Milk, Dark, White, Pink and GREEN Chocolate bunnies. I don't think I've seen green chocolate since then. They also had chocolate eggs with a "yoke" of white and yellow coconut inside. Always thought that was really cool.
