A Blog about the Chambersburg area of Trenton NJ. The Burg we all loved and miss. If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

Thank God for Roma Bank, my main employer. Conservative, prudent and secrative, this is one of the original Old Boy Networks...the Vatican being the 1st.
Ok, here's something. I remember when the current Roma Savings building went up on that corner. They tore down an earlier building using a wrecking ball. This must have been 1960 or so. What a sight it was for a nine year old!
Best, Ed
Ed...I remember the original Roma building. When I was in Immaculate, we all had to open savings accounts and they gave us little manila envelopes to put our money into and then take it to Roma and deposit it. What a great way to teach kids to save and be responsible with money. I never forgot that.
By the way, Mr. Perilli is still the President Emeritus of Roma and goes to work every day at 90! (God bless him).
Hi Barb. I don't remember the pennies going to Roma from Immaculate kids. I do remember the little boxes for coins to buy the pagan babies though. :)

I don't remember Roma having School Banking, But I do remember Trenton Savings Fund Society having School Banking. They were located on E. State St just before State and Broad.
