920 South Broad Street, The Burg, The CYO

920 South Broad Street, The Burg. The CYO.
The Catholic Youth Organisation. This building was once
the Broad Theatre, then the RKO Theatre, and has been
the CYO since the middle 60s. They have fixed the sign
and have re-lit it in a ceramony in late 2008.
The CYO must be on a Burg blog:)

Went on 2 bus trips from CYO to NY Worlds Fair. Sweet 16, out in the world and independant...life was good.

Remember they use to play all the Catholic Grammar School games at Jr. 2 on Olden Ave. We played at the Washington School on Saturday mornings for the JV teams. The joke use to be what CYO stood for:
Cats Young and Old and don't forget to bring your basketball sneakers.

Used to go watch Villa play their basketball games there and remember hanging out in the late 60's listening to Petula Clark 45's with my Catholic friends.
