If you were from the Burg I hope many of the pictures and lists and comments under them from good folks bring back some nice memories. Villa Park, Franklin Park, South Trenton, and nearby Hamilton also mentioned. Use the search box atop the blog to find schools, churches, streets, stores, bars etc that you remember. Over 4000 posts and 3000 pics. Enjoy:)

There was another good meat market on Cass St. near South Broad St. I use to go there for my Grandmother, it was Stacy's Meat Market. Another one on Home Ave, Tindek's and across the street a little local grocer named Leslie. Saxman you and Lou should remember those.
I am going to add a Meat Market
post to the blog now from the
stuff I have:)
Absolutely do remember them...just posted them on the Meat Market...Tindek's use to be right next to our house in the early 50's. Thanks for remembering Stacy Beef, too.
Does anyone remember the slaughter house on Roebling Ave. My x and I lived across athe street from there when our kids were babies. We rented an apartment from Pete Franco's(the hairdresser on Chestnut and Roebling) sister.

I think that slaughter house may still be there.
Are you kidding me?

Paulie, I can't believe your house was right next door to Tindek's. Used to be there Saturdays with my Mom and Grandmom, big shopping day for the Hungarians. I did an appraisal on the house to the left of Tindek's, last year-investment property. Such is Trenton now, How sad.
Wasn't next to Tindek's...when we first moved to Beatty we owned the store on Beatty & Home (was Carl&Mary Jablonski after us)..then we moved across the street to 607 Beatty..was a butcher shop next to us at 605 I think Levine's..then another butcher moved in Francis ????...then Authorized Appliance...Tindek's was always around the corner on Home at Jersey. I remember the Toths and the Sabos from the neighborhood. One of my buddies, Adam Mazur lived next to Tindek's back then.
The Fulton Meat Market was owned by Eernie Nikolai.
Rocjky Marval's slaughterhouse was across the street and down the block on the corner of Hudson St.
