Philadelphia TV in The Burg

Philadelphia TV in The Burg
I have added a Philly TV history site to the bloglist. Here are some
names from folks on TV back then:
Bill "Wee Willie" Webber, Tom Brookshire, John Facenda, Dick
Clark, Ed McMahon, Jane Norman as "Pixanne", Al Meltzer,
Hy Litt, Larry Kane, Ed Harvey, Jerry Blavat, Sally Starr, Gene
London, Tom Snyder, Larry Ferrari, Al Alberts, Diane Allen,
Captain Noah, Joe Niagra, Sid Mark, Jim O Brien, Dr. Shock,
Don Tollefson, Joe Pellegrino, Harry Kalas, Ernie Kovacs,
Bertie the Bunyip, Bill Campbell, Chief Halftown, Gary Geers,
Rob Jennings.
Remember those Krass Brothers TV ads:)))
Remember the Steel Pier show on Saturdays from Atlantic City?
Remember the TV ads when Great Adventure first opened?
Remember those big wood TV consoles about the size of a buick?
And we actually had to get off the couch or chair to change the
channel:))
Of Course if you had a roof antenna you could point it towards
New York and get channels 2, 4,5,7,9,11, & 13.
Then you were living in style and could see the Yanks or Mets:)
Remember?

HI MAC...I WAS ONE OF THE FIRST AROUND TO BUY A TV IN 1946. IT HAD A 7 INCH SCREEN AND WE WERE ALL EXCITED IN WATCHING TEST PATTERNS. ABOUT A YEAR LATTER I BOUGHT WHAT YOU CALLED A BIG SET THAT PLAYED EVERYTHING FROM MONTGOMERFY WARD. MY FRIEND WALT FROM THE POST OFFICE INSTALLED A MOTOR ON THE ANTENNA AND NOW WE WERE ABLE TO SEE EVERYTHING ON THE 10 INCH SCRFEEN. OH HAPPY DAYS.

Mack: I think you covered everyone I could remember. Loved Wee Willy Webber.

Hi Ralph & Joe:)
I think later on Jefferson Ward was a continuation of Montgomery Ward and they replaced Two Guys in Bordenttown, then came Bradlees at that location..and since then that store has been vacant...but the Shoprite next to it does good business:)
