Fall Comes To South Broad Street, The Burg
Good Ole South Broad Street. Our Office was on South
Broad Street for many years. The CYO and Skelton
Library are on South Broad. Other places I can
remember that were on South Broad..Gino's, Marsh
Hobby Shop, Cumberland Farms, Campi's, MAB Paint,
Marazzo's, Harley Davidson, The WaWa, Broadway
Record Center, Pacific Appliances, Broad Street
News, Pat's Diner, Levy's Hardware, Dr. Crane's
Office, Dr. Kincel's Office....

2'nd Precinct TPD's old brick building is still there. I remember a tire store across from it along with Korona Furs and Kudra Furs.
I bought an old MG Midget from Larry Korona quite a while back. Had a lot of fun with that car. As an MG it always had issues but they were simple to fix. All you needed was a bigger screw driver or a bigger hammer.

What strikes me is how empty S. Broad St is, compared to the days before the the new Canal Blvd highway went through. When S. Broad St was a inner city highway it was full oftrucks and trafic going both ways. A kid had to go down to Wineberg's at Beatty and cross at the light.
The social demographers say that the development of and changes in roads spelled the death knell for cities like Trenton. "Back in the day" 206 traffic went down the coast via Broad and Route 1 to Philly, down Calhoun Street. The Turnpike was the nail that sealed Trenton's fate. Trucks were getting bigger and faster and couldn't navigate the narrow streets. At Circle F, we double handled all the material and sent it by smaller trucks to Bordentown but after awhile the south took the remaining business with cheaper labor.

This picture was taken on a wendsday around 11:15 am. There was plenty of traffic before and after it.. it was a lucky break in the traffic that made me snap the pic. Sure 29/195 has removed alot of traffic from Broad Street but its still a very busy street especially at rush hour..(as are Hamilton Avenue, Clinton, Liberty, & Chambers).
