Swan Street in 1920, The Burg

Swan Street in 1920, The Burg
The Sun was setting on the previous Burg and a new Italian
Burg was rising like the sun on the Atlantic Ocean on a
summer day. The world they made was the world I grew up
and for that I will be forever grateful. God Bless The
Ole Burg:)

With the Charleston playing, the dawn of the 20's.

I used to love hearing my aunts tell stories about sneaking out with the flapper gear hidden in a bag headed over to "Josie's house" to get changed. Never met "Josie" but I bet she was the cat's meow.

...THAT WAS A YEAR AFTER I WAS BORN AROUND THE CORNER ON MOTT STREET. BY THE WAY, I RECALL MY SISTER ENTERING A CHARLESTON CONTEST AT WOODLAWN PARK DURING THAT TIME.
