
The Roebling Factory, The Burg
Another part of The great Roebling Factory Complex that
helped bring all of our Burg ancestors to the area long
ago:)

I think that pic was taken from the Dye St. intersection on
S. Clinton about a block away from "The Thing" that goes
over S. Clinton. The newer buiding was a Cold Rolling plant,
IIRC. Here they took large size billets or flat stock,
heated it up, and rolled it out to a smaller size. The
neighborhood kids could go in there and watch through the
open doors or windows. Everybody that lived in the Burg had
his favorite perch where he could watch the action.
Where else in the world could you watch stuff like this,
and then go over to Rocky Marval's and see some calves
or pigs being whacked. That was Burg entertainment,
for sure
