A Familiar Burg Bannister
I have been in and out of many Burg homes through the
years and have seen this bannister style in quite a
few. Its nice as is. Its also nice with some garland
and Christmas Cards on it in the Holiday Season:)

MACK: EXCEPT FOR THE WHITE PAINT JOB ON THAT BANNISTER, THAT PHOTO LOOKS LIKE YOU TOOK IT IN MY LIVING ROOM JUST THIS MORNING. EXCEPT FOR THE WALL PAPER IN YOUR PHOTO (MY PLASTER WALLS ARE PAINTED)THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT I STRIPPED THE PAINT OFF MY ORIGINAL PINE BANNISTER AND REPLACED IT WITH HI GLOSS POLYURETHANE.

Hi Mack: The stairways throughout the Burg seem to be all the same. In all our houses that's just like they look. When we moved to Mercerville, the second floors were unfinished and the newer homes had the bedrooms on the first floor. Our first house in Mercerville was on the corner of Nottingham Way and Marshall Ave. It was an older house and I tried to knock down one of the walls. Would you believe the wall was solid brick. That house was across the street from Smith's Deli, most of the older people in Mercerville should remember them, they were there for years. The stairways in the Burg enabled people to turn their second floor into apts at times. Regards.

Its just a little thing of beauty.
With its Box Newel at the bottom
and Box Posts. I do not recall
ever seeing one of these Bannisters
loose in any home regardless of
condition. In my mind I do not recall these ever being painted
anything other than white. Otherwise they had the wood finish
with protective added.
That Deli on Marshall & Nottingham
Way is now Valentino's and they
make great Italian Hoagies and
they have a few black and white
pics of their Italian Immigrant
Ancestor on the wall (He had a
Deli in North Trenton).
