The New Colonial Bakery, Hudson Street, The Burg.
Once upon a time this was The New Colonial Bakery. The
sign still says it is but it was purchased by Italian
People's Bakery years ago.
For the purposes of this blog its really cool they left
the exterior as it was:)

i worked at new colonial from 1978-1986. great bread! petrino's tobacco shop was next to the bakery (to the right in the pic). on any summer eveing you would hear the older italian gents hanging at petrino's talk about EVERY baseball world series game played. of course, Joe DiMaggio was ALWAYS mentioned.
...and another thing, there is absolutely NOTHING like the smell of hot fresh bread and the sound of chuch bells wafting through the burg streets early on sunday morning. great memories!!!

I used to deliver Trentonians in the Burg wayyyy back when. Each morning, before it got light, you'd walk past the New Colonial and see the bakers weighing out dough and forming the loaves through that very window.
In my opinion, they had the best bread back in the day.

As a youngster I remember a funeral parlor a few doors down from New Colonial Bakery closer to Elmer on the Same side. Am I correct?
