Great memories of this one!
Going there with my mom for Bacala for Christmas....slabs of dried cod piled up in crates. Barrels of olives...great produce...fantastic smells...ah, the things great memories are made of...thanks Mack.

my dad used to send me to san paolo in the summer to get a couple pounds of dandelions to make a salad. they wrapped them in newspaper and tied the bundle with a string. no plastic bags here.
i still eat dandelion salad in the spring/summer too.
i guess it's a ginker thing :)
