Our family doctor was Dr. Franzoni on Brunswick Ave. Later saw Dr. Raymond Kostrewa on South Broad St. near the CYO.

Dr. Vento, my father, one of the Burg's most popular MD's. I remember the patients coming to the office, our house on Hamilton Avenue for evening appointments. Seems like yesterday, where has the time gone? Miss you Pop!

Our doc for many years..Dr Jacob Berman who originally had his office on Market St then moved to Greenwood Ave. House calls at all hours of the day or night...a wonderful dedicated common-sense doctor.

Have to agree with Sax, Drs. Franzoni always made house calls too. I guess you won't find that anymore unless you live in a 1 doctor town.

Hi Sax
Dr Jacob Berman
409 Market Street
607 Greenwood Avenue
According to my records:)

Dr. Berman gave birth to my father at the beginning of his career and to me towards the end of his delivering babies. He had that small office on Market Street, about a block or two from South Broad.

I do recall house calls, too, with his old black bag!

SJBILL..do you remember that oil painting of Dr Berman that hung in his office? It was painted by a young woman patient...it showed him in all his "majesty" with of course, his big cigar, jet-black hair and mustache. He never left his office until EVERY patient in the waiting room was seen...for a couple of bucks (if anything)..sometimes 11:00-12:00 at night...then the house calls!

Sax,

I surely remember that painting. He poddibly accepted it as a lifetime medical payment from some patient.

Dr. Berman was one of the last of the old breed of MD. A real working man of an art he loved.

Mack,

On Greenwood Ave, there was a Dr. Paul Klempner, yet another of the fine Trenton based MDs. IIRC, he met a teagic death in his home/office at the hands of someone rummaging for drugs.

Paul Klempner
637 Greenwood Avenue
my records say:)

Dr. Joseph Kondor, 1414 So Broad St. My uncle Joe also had long office hours, made house calls whenever needed and also did hospital rounds at St Francis, where he was Head Surgeon. Most of our parents and grandparents lived to ripe old ages, thanks to these wonderful, caring doctors. They did it all themselves, no specialist

Noel, We were neighbors right across the street! My mother want to your father (don't remember why) and she thought the world of him. I don't remember ever meeting Dr Vento's kids, but it's possible you will remember Dr Boyle's large family. I was one.

Best, Ed Boyle of 471 Hamilton Ave.

Doc Moriconi -- what a sweet guy. I only saw him for a short time back in the early 80's I think. His office probably had some of the first issue equipment he bought when he started his practice there. the building was on a corner with an irregular lot and I believe it was demolished. His diploma on the wall was one of the largest I ever saw.

Doc Kostrzewa was my mother's ob/gyn when I came along. He became a dermatologist later and practiced in Hamilton. I got to meet him in his dermatology office.

There were 2 Dr. Franzonis - Carl and John. I think one of them was an OB later in the 1970s as I worked for his answering service back in the day.
