452 Hamilton Avenue, The Burg.
This one's for Noel and his Dad:)
Once upon a time this was the office and residence
of Doctor Sebastian Vento and his family.
This picture is from about ten years ago:)

Thanks for the picture. I live in California now. Haven't seen the house since 2004.

I attended Immaculate 56-64 with Michael Boyle who I believe was the son of Daniel. They lived on the 400 (odd #) block of Hamilton Avenue. I believe Daniel Boyle was a doctor at St. Francis Hospital. Further down Hamilton in the 700 block(?) across from THS football field was Dr. Mraz. I recall at least one visit to his office in the front of his house.

Domenic Piccolella. Good dentist. Nice guy. Was first dentist of the new mold that we used -- new equipment that reduced pain!

He had a boat in Waretown called "The 2-Pics."

Hi all, I wrote to Noel last night in response to a comment about his comment about Dr "Googamelli." I did not see this note though. Dr Daniel Boyle, my father, bought the house at 471 Hamilton in 1959 (I think.) We were eight sibs. Daniel and Michael, mentioned in the comments, are my brothers.

Dr Vento and Dr Piccolella were across the street and the kindly Mr Brenna lived next door. His was the well regarded funeral parlor down Hamilton.

My father had his office down Hamilton Ave across from DiLorenzo's for many years and he worked at both St Francis and Helene Fuld.

I have been delighted to discover this blog and want to thank Mack, who I do not know, for posting all this stuff.

Best wishes to all.

Ed Boyle

Ed Boyle,

Just saw your comment. I'm thinking that it was you and not Michael that I attended Imamaculate with. Would have been in eighth grade 1963-1964. My younger brother Dennis may have been in same class as Michael Boyle.

To Stephen, Must be we were classmates at ICS but your name isn't ringing a bell. Could be I would remember with your last name though. It's hard to believe now, with so much emphasis on small class size, but I remember sixty + names on the third grade roster back then. All in one room! Still, I think I knew all the names then. Do you remember Annette? Prettiest girl in the whole room. :)

Peace + good. Ed

Ed,

My last name is Higham. I lived on Revere. Had 8 brothers and 6 sisters and we all attended ICS. I was looking at eighth grade class graduation photo and I don't see you. I'm thinking you left ICS before June 1964. I remember Annette. Still pretty when I last saw her at St. Anthony HS Class of 1968 25 year reunion. She lives in Delaware around 15 miles from me.

Hi Stephen. And I thought we were the largest family with eight! Yes, I left ICS after sixth grade and went to Jr. 2 and then Trenton High. But I remained an altar boy at Immaculate all through high school, and was in the CYO and Jr Holy Name Society besides. I was close to Fr Giles who I am certain you remember. I visited him recently in Albany where he has retired. Sad to say I'm still not remembering you. even with the photo. Moved to Ohio when I was 23 but still a Jerseyan all the way.

Let's see now. Names from our class at ICS that come to mind are:

Patricia Noonan
Dennis Diehl
Rita Cirello (spelling?)
Twin sisters, Maria and ??
Michael Tacoch (spelling)
Joseph Salvatore

How am I doing so far?

Best, Ed

Ed,

When I couldn't find you in the 8th grade graduation picture from 1964 I looked for you in a picture I have of the altar boys from around the mid 60s. Sure enough, I found you in that picture. Fr. Giles is sitting in the middle. Last November I ran into Dennis Hice at our SAHS Class of 1968 forty year reunion. He also graduated from ICS in 1964. He also mentioned visiting Fr. Giles in the last year. Do you recall the trip the altar boys made to Expo '67 in Montreal in the summer of 1967?

Recognize some of the names you mention. Dennis Diehl switched to St. Raphael's after 6th or 7th grade. The twins I remember were Eileen and Michele Costanzo who lived on Redfern. Don't remember anyone named Rita. In addition to Annette Lamachia (Chambers), there was Shelly Leone on Monmouth, Gail Ruskai (Division), Kathy Van Horn (Chestnut), Nancy Craig (Chambers), Mary Cronin and Michele DeBlois (both on Rusling), Valerie Hodge (Morris), Rosemarie Zappley (Anderson), Anita Sawyer on Fulton. Patricia Noon lived on Revere. Loretta Pierro left before 8th grade and I think she lived on Emory. Dennis Hice lived on Second and I think Joseph Salvatore lived on Morris. Frank Pecht lived on S. Cook, Joe DiStefano was on Washington, Wayne Curtin lived on Euclid, Michael Chopan lived in Yardville, Mike Takoch was on Anderson, Joe Palozzi (Anderson) Ed Piantoni lived right accross the street from the nun's convent on Division, Richard Haas and Dennis DeCore lived on Commonwealth, John Mule and Robert Ruthewic were on Chestnut, Ed Rapciewicz was on Franklin as was Richard Simon. Richard Jachetti lived on Hewitt as did Dennis Diehl until they moved out to Yardville. My nephew, Tom Sheppard was with us at ICS in first through fourth grades until my oldest sister moved out of state for two years. I'm sure there were others at ICS with us. but these are the ones I recall.
