Both my maternal grandparents came from the Austro-Hungarian Empire in the late 19th century and were Slovak. Don't know the town, but it must have been close to Vienna. I remember grandma talking about frequently going to Vienna as a teen with her father to buy bolts of cloth, household goods, etc.
